Author Colleen Paige formed national black dog day. National black dog day was launched to motivate people to endorse a dog in a darker shade. Black dogs are mostly not adopted because of their shade. Some black shade dogs are the Bernese mountain dog, Portuguese water dog, and the Scottish terrier. These breeds are fully cloaked in black color, but still, they are good looking and attractive.

National black dog day was first observed on October 1, 2011. The word ‘Black dog’ was coined by the Roman poet Horace. According to European mythology, the black dog symbolizes death, ghost, and Hellhounds. It is because of the color. It is believed that if we see a black dog in our dream, it signifies death or depression, but dogs are mostly known for their loyalty. The color black signifies death or depression.
