The History Behind Coca Cola
During the late 19th century, John Pemberton, a chemist, introduced Coca-Cola to the world as a medicine. The patent was bought by businessman Asa Griggs Candler who, using his marketing strategies, promoted Coca-Cola as a soft drink worldwide. In 1891, Coca-Cola was first sold in bottles. In 1894, the first outdoor wall advertisement for Coca-Cola was painted in Cartersville, Georgia. In 1914, the world’s longest-running Coca-Cola fountain was inaugurated in Fleeman’s Pharmacy in Atlanta. After 81 successful years, the pharmacy finally closed down in 1995. On July 12, 1994, one billion gallons of Coke syrup had been manufactured and was celebrated by the Coca-Cola Company. The first cans of Coke appeared in 1955.
Facts about Coca Cola
After Pemberton’s death, Coca-Cola became famous as a soft drink only after Candler purchased it. Candler began to give out coupons to the public for a free Coca-Cola drink to promote his product. Once people had it, they always returned for more and had to pay 5 pence for a drink.
The first Coca-Cola bottle was shaped like a cocoa bean. This was the first mass-produced in 1916.
The Coca-Cola fans were initially created for the U.S. soldiers of World War II. But due to the shortage of materials, this plan did not materialize until the end of World War II, when it became available to the public in 1960.
