Editorial Policy

Our goal is to be the most accurate and useful guide to national days and observances. Hereโ€™s how we work.

Research

For each observance, we look for the original source, such as a presidential proclamation, a congressional resolution, a United Nations resolution, or the organisation or person who created the day. Where calendars list different dates, we explain the difference.

Uncertain origins

Many fun national days have no documented founder. When thatโ€™s the case, we say so rather than guessing.

Writing

Our pages are written by our own team. We donโ€™t copy content from other calendars.

Fact-checking

Key facts, dates and figures are checked against reliable sources before publication.

Corrections

If you spot an error, contact us and weโ€™ll review it promptly. Significant corrections are noted on the page.

Updates

We review our most-visited pages every year ahead of the observance date.
